KIDtober kids need a tummy full of healthy food for a big day of play. Start the day with a breakfast of milk, yoghurt, wholegrain breads or cereals and fruit

Be lead-aware this KIDtober

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Start the day with a healthy breakfast of milk, yoghurt, wholegrain breads or cereals and fruit.

Children absorb less lead when they have a tummy full of healthy food so give small meals and healthy snacks throughout the day.

Remember wash all fruit and vegetables with tap water before eating, and don’t forget always wash and dry your hands before preparing food/drinks, feeding children and eating or drinking.

Avoid sitting on the ground to eat.  If you are having a picnic, put down a rug or blanket as a barrier to sit on, or sit at a picnic table.  It only takes a small amount of lead dust to elevate blood lead levels.
